Now it's time for the part you're probably dreading (don't worry - I don't take it personally!)

Family & group photos are only as good as the preparations made before-hand. Prior to your wedding day, I will ask you for a list of those involved in family photos - both immediate (your parents/siblings etc) and extended (aunties/uncles/grand-parents/cousins etc) family. It is equally as important to inform these people that these photos will ideally be being taken straight after the ceremony and where they will be taken if you are travelling to a separate location for them.

If your wedding is happening in a hotel/resort - your guests and family will feel they might take this opportunity to check into their rooms or have a walk about the grounds. Keep those involved updated with these plans prior to and on the day

I will also ask prior to the day if there are any family dynamics I should be aware of. I do not want to create tension in family photos by placing members who are not on good terms together. Separate photos can be taken with these individuals/groups and it is not too much to ask so don't feel you are being a nuisance to me.

If there are bereavements in the family with members who could not be there on your wedding day, please let me know as I do not want to upset you or your families during this special day.

If any members of the family are unable to travel onto a separate location for these photos or have limited mobility, these can be taken in an accessible location to make things easier.

Your Wedding Party

Now it's onto your wedding party - your chosen gang. No matter how big or small your group, it's important that this time spent getting photos is full of fun and moments that last.

I will be sure to let your wedding party know that these photos are not to embarrass you or make you do anything stupid or cringe.

Let's be honest - you all look the best you ever have and now is an opportunity to get those stunning group photos you will want to show off.

Relaxed, beautiful smiles and a true example of a strong wedding party unit. This doesn't just happen though - it took a couple of fixes to chairs, a little bit of patience and a quick posture fix. It is a good reminder that group photos don't need to just be those "stand in a line and smile" shots.

Indoor photos don't always need to be saved for rainy days. If your reception location has a beautiful interior, it can be really impactful and give a good variation to your gallery.

This set-up also gives me a great chance to get candids, smaller group and individual photos within it.

Other Group Photos

Group photos with friends and other special guests can be taken at all points during the day. They can either be photo of you with these guests or photos of the guests themselves (i.e a new family, friends who just got engaged etc)

These photos typically involve shots with friendship groups, co-workers, or any other guests who are particularly special to you. To make sure we capture everyone important, I recommend reviewing your guest list ahead of time. If there are any guests you’d like specific photos with, aside from your family and wedding party, please let me know through the 'Pre-Wedding Rundown' form I’ll send you.
